We've all experienced anxiety at some point in our lives; in the lead up to an exam or interview, or when faced with something to be scared of; but for 1 in 20 of us this becomes more severe and starts to interfere with our quality of life.
This anxiety can be directed at a specific target, such as with a phobia - for example you might experience severe anxiety in response to; seeing a spider, flying on a plane, having an injection, or speaking in public. Or the anxiety can be more general; an overriding feeling of nervousness, panic or an inability to cope when facing everyday situations.
Either way, anxiety and phobias can control our lives, and significantly impact on our ability to enjoy lifes experiences. Indeed, my own experience of severe Arachnophobia (an extreme anxiety response to spiders) provided my introduction to the power of Hypnotherapy and its success gave me back significant control over my life!
And the research certainly supports this. Renowned publication the British Medical Journal, aimed at GP's and other medical professionals, recently concluded "there is good evidence from randomised controlled trials that both hypnosis and relaxation techniques can reduce anxiety", the same report also concluded that hypnosis was proven to be effective in treating panic attacks and phobias. The BMJ also recommends Cognitive Therapy as the "most effective" treatment for anxiety disorders, including Social Anxiety, OCD, Agrophobia and other phobias and panic attacks.
My main aim as a therapist is to produce profound and lasting results for my clients and thankfully my training in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy allows me to combine the power of Hypnosis and the proven techniques of Cognitive Therapy; to achieve just that! My therapy is skills based and highly practical, with a typical treatment program including techniques such as applied deep relaxation, self hypnosis and developing more helpful realistic thinking strategies. In fact you will generally experience a significant reduction in your fear and anxiety after just one session.
So if you are currently suffering from inappropriate anxiety, fears or phobias; get in contact by phone or email, to find out how Hypnotherapy can help you regain control, permanently.
